The Grady Management, Inc. team recognizes one of our exceptional student residents, Ms. Daniela Valladares, who recently received a National Affordable Housing Management Association’s Educational Foundation scholarship for the 2018- 2019 academic year. Ms. Valladares, a resident of Preston Place Apartments in Winchester, Virginia, is one of only 64 student recipients who received a scholarship from the Educational Foundation.
This is the 12th consecutive year that the National Affordable Housing Management Association’s, known as NAHMA, Educational Foundation has awarded student scholarships.
A resident of Preston Place Apartments for more than 10 years with her family, Ms. Valladares felt inspired to apply for a scholarship after her sister won a NAHMA Educational Foundation scholarship for the previous academic year. She explains that she is thankful to the NAHMA Educational Foundation because their scholarship “has lifted a large economic burden from me and my family, which will help me pursue my studies with more focus.”
During the 2018 – 2019 academic year, Ms. Valladares will be a first-year student at Lord Fairfax Community College, beginning classes during the fall semester. She intends to study engineering with a focus in micro mechanical engineering. Since her junior year of high school, Ms. Valladares has taken several drawing and design classes, which fueled her interest in the field of engineering.
Ms. Valladares’ parents and family are all thrilled she received a NAHMA Educational Foundation scholarship. Ms. Valladares reiterates, “My parents and my sisters are really grateful for the award as well. They're very proud of me and support me and my sister in everything.”
According to the NAHMA website, the NAHMA Educational Foundation has awarded more than one million dollars in scholarships since 2007. NAHMA accepts donations to the Educational Foundation online.
