Mr. Alford, graduated from Virginia Tech University with a Bachelor’s degree in Property Management, has over 25 years of experience in the industry.  Since joining GMI in 2007 as Assistant Vice President, Mr. Alford was promoted to Vice President in 2010, appointed President in 2017 and Chairman of the Board in 2020. Prior to GMI he was a Regional Asset Manager for Sun America Affordable Housing Partners where he was responsible for overseeing the financial performance of a portfolio of 15,000 units while ensuring compliance of the tax credit stream on each property.  Previously to that, he was a Regional Property Manager with Kettler Management as well as Archstone-Smith overseeing affordable housing and conventional market rate apartments.  He has accorded the designation of Certified Property Manager (CPM) by the Institute of Real Estate Management and is a member of IREM and the Property Management Association as well as serving as a Board Member for MA-AHMA and AOBA.
